French Postal Ban on Coins, Jewels and Bullion

Posted on: July 2nd, 2013

As reported in the latest Antiques Trade Gazette, a new decree under French law has banned the mailing of banknotes, coins, jewellery and precious metals using the French postal system. This means that valuable items must be sent by courier or other secure means and adequate insurance should be purchased.
Our Transit2Insure policy (www.transit2insure.com) provides a suitable insurance for such shipments and is available for dealers, museums and other commercial clients to purchase instantly and economically online.
Please note that either the origin or destination of the sending must be in the UK for this policy to be valid.
