Yayoi Kusama at the Tate Modern

Posted on: February 8th, 2012

83 year old artist Yayoi Kusama has continuously innovated and re-invented her style despite living voluntarily in a psychiatric institution since 1977. Kusama’s work has been marked with obsessiveness and a desire to escape from psychological trauma. In an attempt to share her experiences, she creates installations that immerse the viewer in her obsessive visions of endless dots and nets or infinitely mirrored space. Her art encompasses an astonishing variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, film, performance and immersive installation. This is a varied, spectacular exhibition of a truly unique artist. There has never been an exhibition of this size of her work in the UK.

The exhibition opens at the Tate Modern on the 9th February and runs until the 5th June 2012.
